Wheat...West coast white wheat prices held ground against fresh lows in
Chicago futures on Tuesday, with basis strengthening 15 cents from a week
ago. Cash bids for both hard red winter and dark northern spring were more
reflective of lower futures, as prices approached the low end of the range
for the marketing year. New crop August white wheat is actually bid at a
premium to old crop, as basis has strengthened nearly 40 cents since early
October. New crop hard red winter and dark northern spring bids are posted
nearly at par with their respective old crop bids.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed wheat movement took a back
seat to corn and bean loadings over the past week, coming in 10.8 mbus to
put year-to-date shipments at 403 mbus, which stands 32% ahead of last year
at this time. Shipments were fairly evenly split between the three classes
of wheat. West coast activity showed 4.8 mbus of wheat loaded, mostly for
The Philippines, along with 10 mbus of corn and 17.4 mbus of soybeans.
